England Oaks is a community of vibrant engaging adults who help each other pursue their life's interests and learn new ones. Monday night is poker night and dominos and pinochle both have their own group of passionate practitioners who get together weekly for mini-tournaments.

A multi-denominational Bible-study group gathers once a week. And the last Tuesday of every month is potluck supper day, when the entire community gets together to break bread and share good times. Right next door, the Learning Center for Rapides Parish offers 24 academic programs at 10 affiliated colleges and universities. The state's largest academic consortium offers a full range of academic opportunities, as well as non-credit, professional development programs to enable residents of central Louisiana to expand their skills.
